The Big Bear’s Arkansas ABCs provides pre- and very early literate students with an extensive introductions to the wonderful surprises awaiting them as they begin to learn about Arkansas’ rich and diverse history and geography. This extremely colorful volume consists of twenty six separate layouts that take young children on an alphabetically tour of Arkansas, one letter at a time.  Each layout contains a full page color illustration featuring Big Bear and his Critter Crew (Rabbit, Squirrel, and Racoon) facing a map of Arkansas with original images of Arkansas wildlife, plants, and products keyed to the letter of the alphabet featured in the layout.  Each layout also contains an insightful, imaginative, and original poem.  Winner of the 2005 Arkansiana Award for Juvenile Literature awarded by the Arkansas State Library Association Big Bear’s Arkansas ABCs is available in both a student and Big Book editions.
